Welcome to “The Messy Things Podcast!”.
where your host Patrice Burns and guests invite you to peak into the messy parts of life. Our adventurous journey to now is real and we all have experienced the good, the bad and the uglies. I would love nothing more than to invite everyone in on a little secret.
The relationships we are born into and the ones we are introduced to along the way have different flavours BUT the same — sometimes messy, sometimes loving and sometimes painful. These stories will be about the family you were raised with and the friends that would one day become the family you chose. We will discuss the relationships of many faces whether they are for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. We will be sharing stories that will have us laughing and stories that will bring us to tears. We will have real conversations with some amazing guests and I will share many parts of myself that I have discovered along the way.
What I experienced in life is that I have a warrior-like strength and yet I cry a lot — I mean a lot.
I have carried shame for the tears my entire life and not just self-shame but shaming from others. I spent years being confused as my people would say how proud they were of me and I was one of the strongest woman they knew. The minute my tears came because they always came — I wasn’t strong at all and then I was put in the shame box for being weak. The secret they didn’t understand was that I cry with every emotion. I could be happy, I could be sad, I could be frightened, nervous, and even mad. Some of us just come into this world with an abundance of water in our astrological chart as well as in our human design and I am one of those people.
This is what we are here to discover, this is what we are here to learn — ourselves.
This will be a part of the gifts I wish to share. The gifts that I have discovered turned out to be the permission slip I was waiting for in order for me to show up just as I am. I will share the blueprint to your own life thus allowing you to step into your own personal power and purpose. You have so much hidden deep down inside and you just have to be curious enough with the willingness to explore.
This podcast at the very least will help introduce you to some of your own stories. If you have a desire to share and/or be vulnerably brave please reach out. I am happy to help you find your voice too and would be excited to invite you onto my podcast.

A Little Bit About Patrice (Peace)
First reveal — my nickname is Peace. In 1988, the first baby born into my life would be my nephew and god son. As this soul extension of my heart started to talk he just could not grasp the words Auntie Patrice and I would soon become Peace. I have asked him now decades later if he saw through to my very soul. I live my life trying to reach this most sacred jewel inside of me and I have carried peace as one of my most deepest core values. Thank you Ronnie for seeing into my very being as well as reminding me each and every day who I am. I am an author, a podcaster, a healer and a space keeper. I own my own shoppe in Brighton, Ontario and I am ever-changing. I flow with the universe and I am guided by my soul purpose.
I wish to be a lighthouse for others so they too can find peace in their life.
My favourite modalities are inner child work, astrology and human design. In truth anything that has me in the excavation of my own heart I show up for. Yes, I am also about my own personal healing and growth. I am an official Spirit Junkie on a long road of self-discovery. I have been asked many times why I do this work as much as I do? My answer is simple — we are forever healing and our journey is forever changing. Like the labyrinth our life is a journey to our own center and then back again — out into the world.
Like an onion we all have many layers and many stories. Our layers are meant to be peeled back in order for us to find our center, our heart.
These are my stories and they are your stories too!!
The intro and music to my podcast is written and played by a gentleman that came into mine and my daughters life during a great rescue of a dozen 8-day old puppies with Team Chelsea in Durham. We shared joy, laughs and we shared tears in that rescue. We shared in the raising of these mighty pups together for 12 weeks. Some stayed in our homes and some went out into the loving homes of carefully chosen families. I knew then that one day his gift of music would be beside my gift of sharing.
